An alumni of SRFTI, Samimitra escaped bhodrolok headquarters Kolkata in 2012 to pursue his filmmaking dreams in Mumbai. His advertising repertoire so far includes films he has directed for Savlon, Boroplus, Central and Maruti Suzuki among others, some even in mother tongue Bengali.

As an assistant, he has worked on Vikramaditya Motwane’s Lootera and Dilip Ghosh’s Commando - A One Man Army where he learnt the patient craft of waiting for actors to get ready and not sleeping for days on end. An English Masters Student from Jadavpur University, Samimitra has to his screenwriting credit, a series of ghost stories on Zee5 called Parchayee (which he also directed), an adaptation of Ruskin Bond stories. He also developed his own screenplay at the Screenwriters Lab 2016, which became ……..?

Trained in capturing human emotions on camera, Samimitra aspires to look for fun in the mundane everyday. He believes humour is crucial in storytelling as it helps reach out to a wider audience and the advertising message then becomes accessible to many.
